Who can take the Class 1 Large licence in Korea?

You must be at least 19 years old and have held a Class 1 or Class 2 Regular licence for at least one year. Training is 3 hours of lecture plus 10 hours of technical course practice, the skills test pass mark is 80 out of 100, and there is no road driving test. The programme costs 837,000 KRW including VAT.

Eligibility — both conditions must be met

Age 19 or over

The minimum age for Class 1 Large is 19, two years higher than the ordinary car categories.

One year of licensed driving

You must have held a Class 1 or Class 2 Regular licence for at least one year. Motorcycle-only experience does not count.

Legal minimum education requirement. Applicants must also meet the statutory minimum education requirement for this category. Bring your existing licence when you enrol so we can verify eligibility before you pay.

Every task must be completed. Skipping one is an automatic fail regardless of your score elsewhere.

Pass — 80 out of 100

Common deductions:

  • Exceeding the time limit
  • Line contact
  • Missing the stop at a crosswalk or railroad crossing
  • Hill rollback of 50 cm or more
  • Failing to signal
  • Stalling or over-revving
  • Seatbelt violation

Immediate fail

  • Failing to start within 30 seconds without valid reason
  • Skipping any required course task
  • An accident, or leaving the designated course
  • A prolonged stop inside the intersection without valid reason
  • Critical failure on the hill task, beyond permitted limits

Booking, validity and refunds

These rules are set by the academy and apply to every programme.

Training validity

Theory, course practice and on-road lessons must all be completed within 3 months of your start date.

Expiry rules

The course (skills) test must be passed within 6 months of finishing theory. The road test must be passed while your learner's licence is valid — 1 year.

Advance booking

Every practical session must be booked at least 1 hour in advance. Practical training can be scheduled any time the academy is open, 09:00–20:00.

Absence and lateness

30,000 KRW per hour is charged for a missed or late session. The fee is waived if you reschedule at least 24 hours ahead.

Refunds

Full refund before training starts. After it starts, completed hours are deducted and half of the remaining time is refunded.

Traffic penalties

Fines incurred during a lesson or test — signals, speed and similar — are the learner's responsibility.
