How do I authenticate my Australian licence?
You get an apostille on your licence from DFAT (the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade). Australia and Korea are both Apostille Convention members, so that apostille is accepted without embassy legalization.
Can I exchange a P-plate (provisional) licence?
Generally no — provisional P1/P2 licences usually can't be exchanged. You'd take the full Korean test, which SDA runs in English. A full (open) licence is needed for a straight exchange.
Manual or automatic Korean licence?
It mirrors your Australian licence: automatic-only converts to automatic-only, a full licence converts unrestricted. Upgrading to manual later is a short skills test, with no written test.
