Class 1 Regular is for drivers who need more than a normal car: vans and minibuses up to 15 seats, trucks under 12 tons payload, and forklifts under 3 tons. It includes everything a Class 2 licence permits. Training is 13 hours, the written pass mark is 70 out of 100, and the programme costs 795,000 KRW including VAT.

Theory, course practice and on-road lessons must all be completed within 3 months of your start date.
The course (skills) test must be passed within 6 months of finishing theory. The road test must be passed while your learner's licence is valid — 1 year.
Every practical session must be booked at least 1 hour in advance. Practical training can be scheduled any time the academy is open, 09:00–20:00.
30,000 KRW per hour is charged for a missed or late session. The fee is waived if you reschedule at least 24 hours ahead.
Full refund before training starts. After it starts, completed hours are deducted and half of the remaining time is refunded.
Fines incurred during a lesson or test — signals, speed and similar — are the learner's responsibility.

A Class 1 Regular (1종 보통) licence covers passenger cars, vans and minibuses up to 15 seats including the driver, trucks under 12 tons payload, special vehicles under 10 tons gross weight excluding tow and rescue vehicles, forklifts under 3 tons, and motorized bicycles of 125cc and below.
Written test 70 out of 100, skills (course) test 80 out of 100, and road driving test 70 out of 100.
Class 1 Manual lets you drive both manual and automatic vehicles. Class 1 Automatic restricts you to automatic-transmission vehicles. The automatic option has been open to the general public since October 2024.
About 905,000 KRW. The SDA programme is 795,000 KRW including 10% VAT, and required government and administrative fees come to roughly 110,000 KRW.
Only if you expect to drive vehicles larger than a normal car — a 10 to 15 seat van, or a truck between 4 and 12 tons. For everyday driving Class 2 is sufficient and costs 30,000 KRW less.
