I have a valid Canadian licence
Most provinces: exchange with the aptitude test only — no written or road test.
Two clear paths for Canadians with an ARC. Exchange your provincial licence with only the aptitude test — or take the full course and test, entirely in English, near Seoul.

Most Canadians with a valid licence can exchange it; a few situations still need the full test — which SDA handles in English. SDA is in Anyang, ten minutes from Gwanak Station on Metro Line 1, and runs the theory class, written test and road test in English for residents across Seoul, Korea.

If you hold a full provincial driver's licence, you exchange it for a Korean one after only an aptitude (vision) test.
Verify first: the recognized-country list is set by National Police Agency notice and can change. Confirm Canada on the official KoROAD exchange page before you file.
Required if you hold only a novice/graduated licence, have no valid licence, want a Class 1, or would rather learn Korean roads first. SDA runs the whole path in English.

Yes. Since Canada joined the Apostille Convention on 11 January 2024, you authenticate your licence with an apostille from your province's competent authority (Alberta, BC, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan) or from Global Affairs Canada for other provinces and territories — no embassy legalization.
Korea's licence-recognition agreements are made with individual Canadian provinces, so it depends on where your licence was issued. Confirm your province on the official KoROAD page, or message us and we'll check for you.
Generally no — learner and novice/graduated licences (like Ontario's G1/G2 or a class-7/N licence) usually can't be exchanged. You'll take the full test, which SDA runs in English. A full, unrestricted provincial licence is what qualifies for exchange.
Your Korean licence mirrors your Canadian one. An automatic-only licence converts to automatic-only; a full licence converts unrestricted. Upgrading to manual later needs only a short skills test, not the written test.
